Nicole Pimentel, Youth Advocate

Nicole is a New York City based artist. During her time as an undergraduate at Parsons the New School for Design, she was selected to participate in the BFA Thesis Show at Parsons as well as in the student scholarship competition at the Society of Illustrators. While at Parsons, Nicole worked in the Parsons Scholars Program and the Parsons Pre-College Academy as an Undergraduate Mentor and Teaching Assistant. Specifically, Nicole played a crucial role in the creation of murals for the Pediatric Center at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, NY as a TA in the Parsons Scholars senior capstone class led by artist Jaime Arredondo. After graduating from Parsons in 2010 with a BFA in Illustration, she entered the Art Education program at Queens College, where she has obtained fieldwork experience observing and teaching public high school students. Today, Nicole works with the junior Parsons Scholars as a Youth Advocate and continues to make artwork inspired by her Peruvian and Puerto Rican roots as well as her ever-growing community in Chelsea, NY.
