On February 20th, the scholars went to Madison Square Park to visit artists Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder’s “Camera Obscura” Installation. The installation is large white cylindrical structure that sits inside of the park. The inside is dark and hollow and there is a small hole on the outside that when viewed from the inside, shows the projection of the outside world onto the walls. It was a very unique experience for the scholars and it displayed one of the mechanisms behind how cameras work in a very artistic way!
